On March 9th Como Park’s Advanced Band class went to the Region 4AA music competition at Stillwater High School. They received top marks with three Superior scores of 36, 36, and 38 out of 40. Some of the other bands had over 100 students making the 23 musicians in Como’s band seem kind of small. In order to get into the Band in the first place you must audition or be recommended. There were also ten musicians who tried out for the state band and all ten of them were accepted.
The results from their performance may lead to more students coming to Como for our music program. Mr. Raskovitch said, “I’d like to see more kids come here who are actually really passionate and have good attitudes about music.” He added, “I’m very happy and proud for our kids. They earned it”.
