After a long and intense process of recruiting and interviewing candidates for superintendent, it came down to three very qualified individuals; one has prevailed. Ms. Valeria Silva was named by the Saint Paul Public School District Board of Education as the preferred superintendent candidate. She is to begin immediately.
“Ms. Silva is the right choice to lead Saint Paul Public Schools now and in to the Future,” explains Board Chair Kazoua Kong-Thao. “…she is the candidate who most closely matched the leadership characteristics desired of our next superintendent.”
Ms. Silva has been a strong interactive leader within the SPPS for many years. She has done a lot to improve the respect of SPPS, not only on the local level but on the national level as well. For example, she led the creation of the English Language Learners program which has been recognized nationally for its success.
“I am truly humbled and honored with this responsibility I’ve been entrusted with,” said Ms. Silva. So, after 5 months of decision making the one has been chosen and it’s Valeria Silva.
