Winterfest Sport Assembly

Always an anticipated event of the Como Park school year, students are looking forward to the 2010 Winterfest Pepfest even more than usual due to the lack of a Homecoming Pepfest last fall. The pep levels at Como are overflowing. Without an outlet for the enormous amounts of pep in the student body, the school is running on an excess of Pep, which will be released in one momentous occasion, on Thursday, February 11th Our Winterfest Pepfest.

For any and all who have not yet experienced a Pepfest, I say that it is absolutely necessary to do so this year. To all of you who’d say “I’d rather sit in class and sleep” or “A dollar is too expensive” to you I say “Shut up.” You are not aware of what you’re missing. You may not think you have any Pep, and that might be true. Not many people have Pep before their first Fest, but during your first Pepfest you shall discover the Pep deep inside you. There is something to be said about the Winter Sports, the Como Cougar, the Class pride, and the SPORTZ!! These factors can teach you something about yourself that you never knew before, if you only dare to listen.

A Pepfest is essentially a sports rally where the winter sports get to be recognized. This Pepfest will gives the school a chance to congratulate the players on all of the different winter sports teams in a very enthusiastic environment, but unlike being at a meet or a game, the players have a chance to interact with their audience. The coaches will also have time to talk about the triumphs and challenges that the team met during the 2009-2010 season.

The teams that will be showcased include the Boys Hockey, Boys Swimming, Cross Country Skiing, Wrestling, Girls Gymnastics, Boys Basketball, and the Girls Basketball Team. By the time mid-February rolls around, pretty much all of the teams will be done with their seasons, but until then, there are plenty of opportunities to see these teams battle against other teams from the Metro Area. There are games and meets nearly every day of the week, so make sure to check the Como Park Sports calendars.

From the sports recognition, to the chants and class pride, Pepfests are a good time for all involved. It’s a convenient way to support your friends playing winter sports, or be supported yourselves. It’s loud, it’s fun, it’s an event you don’t want to miss.
