The girls gymnastics team had their first conference meet, which had to be rescheduled due to bad weather, last Friday, December 11th. In a meet against Johnson and Tartan they placed third with their total team score of 81.9 points. This was a huge improvement from last year. Returning captains Mitzi Peine and Chelsea Preiner and other veterans show, with the guiding hands of coaches Seckler and Rauss, constant improvement and keep the hopes and spirits of the team high.

A week prior to the first conference meet they had a preview meet against seven other schools. They really showed that the team could shine. The team score totaled roughly 73.3 points which put them in 7th place. A groundbreaking score for the team which hadn’t been reached for two years, since Megan Seckler graduated to become Como’s gymnastics coach.

The team’s strong vaulting scores awarded to vaulters Mitzi Peine, Rachel Oyen, Amanda Alden, Chelsea Preiner, and Haley Shellum. This comprised 40% of the team’s total score in the preview meet.

The next meet is Wednesday, December 16th, at Como so come on out and cheer on the girls as they demonstrate what they have learned through courage, hard work, and perseverance (as well as some help from the coaches and trusty managers) as they take on Central’s gymnastics team.
